"It [the report] joins a series of investigations by the British House of Commons, Pennsylvania State University, the InterAcademy Council and the National Research Council into the leaked e-mails that have exonerated the scientists involved of scientific wrongdoing."
NYT: Scientists Are Cleared of Misuse of Data. While this will satisfy most people, it clearly was not enough for Senator James Inhofe (R - Oklahoma), who seized upon a mishandling of a 2007 FOIA request to criticize the NOAA. For Mr. Inhofe, it seems that the honesty and good works of the entire climatology research community hinges on how one request for information was handled two years before the whole “ClimateGate” farce. That seems reasonable, especially coming from a man who openly admits to spending taxpayer money on religiously-motivated trips to Africa, was accused of mismanaging Quaker Life Insurance, a company he was bequeathed by his father, and claimed to graduate from University of Tulsa in 1959 when he didn’t really graduate until 1973 (14 years later). If Senator James Mountain Inhofe of Oklahoma tells us that global warming is a hoax perpetrated upon us by climate scientists, of course we should believe him; he clearly is an expert on the subject.
